Straw wattles and logs are sediment devices used as a temporary measure for sedimentation control in various environments. Straw wattles and logs are tubes of straw of various lengths installed, much like silt fence, to control sheet flow and collect sediment. These are mostly used in smaller drainage areas to detain sediment and are more effective where there is overland flow, but they can also catch windblown sediment. Wattles and logs are very easy to install and maintain.
